            Night Marchers

Don’t you dare look into the eyes of a Night Marcher! You will be cursed!

Seventeen-year old Emma Townsend is forced to move to Hawaii
with her dad for a new job he is working on. This may be a chance for
her to turn over a new leaf and to stop grieving her mother’s death, but
little did she know that she would be stepping into a whole new world
filled with supernatural creatures. One day she comes across the Night
Marchers—wandering spirits who march from their burial grounds to
ancient battle locations reliving the past. These “Marchers” walk
together chanting, beating drums, and holding torches, but everyone on
the island knows not to cross their path. Everyone but Emma.

Curious to see what was going on, she accidentally locks eyes with
a Night Marcher and ends up bringing on the curse for herself.  The curse
is quite simple: Lock eyes with a Night Marcher and they will steal your
soul. Now she is on the run with the help of a mysterious stranger
named Kai. Can he help her overcome this curse?

I absolutely loved this book. Once I started reading it, I could not
put it down. As soon as I finished it I had to get the second one. I
ended up finishing both books in one day! The reason I liked this book
is because it was a whole new aspect of the supernatural world. There
are so many books out there on vampires or witches, but this one is
definitely different. This is about ghosts that are trapped on earth
and will do anything to steal the souls of humans once they lock eyes.

There is also a little romance mixed in with the story. Emma meets
handsome and sweet Tristan, and is immediately charmed by him, but
then comes along Kai. He changes her entire world and helps her fight
off her Night Marcher. She later finds out that he is immortal and
that they are destined to be together. She is torn between these two
guys and is also in conflict with the Night Marcher—who happens to be
the evil twin brother of Kai!

Will Emma overcome her curse with the Night Marcher?

Find out by reading the book, and if you liked this book check out

In Stephenie Meyer's latest, The Host, the earth has been taken over by an alien race called The Souls. They have inhabited our human bodies and do everything we do. Once a human body is captured the host is its new and permanent resident. Wanderer has been a host on almost every planet in the galaxy. Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, didn't expect to find its former tenant refusing to relinquish possession of her mind. As Melanie fills Wanderer's thoughts with visions of Jared, a human who still lives in hiding, Wanderer begins to yearn for a man she's never met. Reluctant allies, Wanderer and Melanie set off to search for the man they both love.

For fans of Twilight: this is the book for you! This book has an amazing love story with twists and turns at every corner. This book is slow at some points, but the ending was spectacular. This book does not have sequels to go along side it, but look out for the movie, coming out March 29, 2013!

Little House In The Big Woods
by Laura Ingalls Wilder

Little House In The Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder is a book based on the old fashioned American lifestyle. Although it is fiction, the book has many truths about the past of american life.
The book opens with an overview of the family. Ma, Pa, Laura (the main character) and Mary, her older sister. The book follows the family as they go through a year of life in "the big woods" as Laura calls it. Pa leaves most days to go hunting, and Laura and Mary help Ma around the house. This story touches on Christmas, New Years, holidays, family gatherings, and all around good times.
This book depicts the pureness of the old fashioned American lifestyle. It is fairly a short read. For those who read fast, I say it's about a two day read. For those who read a little slower, it may take a week to read.
This book has been a childhood favorite for me for a long time. I grew up having my parents read it to me chapter by chapter. Then when I was old enough to read it myself, I read it nonstop. This book is high on my book scale. It is funny; it has an overall good and positive atmosphere. I have always found it a pleasing read. It's not too complicated in the wording, so it is suitable for younger readers. However, olders readers will enjoy it as well.

               Son
               by Lois Lowry

               Elizabeth Mosolovich

I am sure most people have at least heard of The Giver, a novel by Lois Lowry; it is about a dystopian society where there is no color or emotion or love. What people might not know, however, is that there is not just one sequel to The Giver, but three: Gathering Blue, The Messenger, and Son. The first sequel seems almost totally unrelated, and the second is more of a sequel to the first, but those stories are all tied together in the last book, Son.

Son is about a mother, Claire, loving her son in a society where such a thing is foreign and forbidden. She does her best to see him and take care of him, all the while trying not to get caught. Because her son cannot conform to their society's rules, he has to be 'Released.' Claire is horrified and wants to save her son; she learns later that someone (an important character from The Giver) has taken her son out of their community, and hopefully to safety. Claire is still determined to be a mother to her son, and so sets out on a journey to finally, properly, meet her son.

I thought the book was very interesting. The return to the community of The Giver was helpful in refreshing my mind (I read the first book in sixth grade), but it was also nice to see it from another character's perspective: the same story told differently. There were three parts to it, and the first and second part was detailed and even paced, though it could be a bit slow. The varying characters, especially of part two, were a nice touch, so it wasn't exactly the same story, and the old characters made it feel like the sequel it was. There's romance in here, too, and the antagonist is actually a personification of evil itself — this book makes you think. The end was a bit rushed, and the final action was squished together while something that seemed trivial was stretched. But other than that, I felt like this was a really good book. Give it a try!

Fifteen-year-old Clary Fray did not expect to witness murder in Pandemonium, let alone murder by three stunningly beautiful teens with tattoos over their bodies. The three teens appear to her again and explain that they are Shadowhunters: a secret tribe of warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. That same day someone kidnaps her mother and a demon tries to attack her! Why would a demon be interested in Clary? Why can Clary, an ordinary human, see the Shadowhunters?
